Money Matters in Medicine
This training prepares healthcare professionals to find and use funding and financial-assistance options that support education, training, and career growth. Participants will learn the major funding types—scholarships, grants, loans, and stipends—and how they differ in purpose, eligibility, and repayment or service expectations. The course also compares private and government funding sources, highlighting their distinctive features and how each may fit different career objectives. A focused module on scholarship applications provides practical tips for locating eligible programs, crafting competitive submissions, and navigating common conditions such as service obligations and renewal rules. Attendees will be introduced to HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) offerings—scholarship and loan-repayment programs, workforce development initiatives—and online tools for discovering, tracking, and managing opportunities. By the end of the session, participants will be able to confidently use HRSA and other vetted platforms to continue searching for funding and to plan professional development, enabling more informed financial decisions throughout their healthcare careers.
By the end of this training, the learner will be able to:
- Define major types of funding and financial assistance available to healthcare professionals.
- Explain common financial tools and terminology, including scholarships, grants, loans, and stipends.
- Define private and government funding sources and their characteristics.
- Identify reliable resources and platforms to support funding searches and professional development opportunities.
- Criteria to earn CEUs:
- Certificates are awarded when the following criteria have been met by the learner:
- Class has been paid in full
- All material has been reviewed
- All review questions and final test have been completed with a passing score of 80% or higher.
- Learning Assessment Method:
- Learners will be assessed through questions after every section is completed. Learners will not be
allowed to proceed to the next section of the training until all questions have been answered correctly.
Learners will be presented with a final test composed of true/false and multiple choice questions.
Upon successful completion of the training, learners will receive their certificate by email.
- Learning Methodology:
- Online material will be presented in the form of slides,
accompanied with speech. Videos will be used to demonstrate ideas and concepts. Charts and tables
will be used for illustration.
- Logistics/Required Technology:
- A stable internet connection is required for the completion of this course. Users are highly encouraged to take their online course on Google Chrome on either a laptop or desktop computer. Speakers and/or headphones are also required to hear speech.
